Huddersfield shopping scene

Huddersfield is a town in the UK, West Yorkshire. It’s considerably big and has a population of 168,698 (in 2015). Naturally, its shopping has lots to offer whether looking for high – street stores, luxurious designer clothing, or small independent boutiques.

It boasts three shopping malls in the town centre: Kingsgate shopping centre and Byram Arcade and Packhorse. Out of all three, Kingsgate is the biggest and offers high – street retailers’ shops, such as H&M, Topshop, New Look, River Island, Next and more. Byram Arcade has three shopping floors, housing indie boutiques & less known brands – it is a great place to explore, whether you want to shop, or eat, it has it all covered. Packhorse is a smaller shopping centre, and mainly has jewellery stores, such as Warren James, H. Samuel and Beaverbrooks. It also has a street food court corner, with brands, such as Burger King, Mc Noodle King, Taco Loco and others.

There is also House of Fraser department store within Kingsgate shopping centre, selling beauty products and services, womenswear, fashion accessories, menswear and homeware. It has a variety of designer brands, such as All Saints, Ted Baker, Armani Jeans, Biba, Dune, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, Lyle and Scott and more.

For something a little bit more unique, head to Huddersfield Open Market, it has general markets and second – hand markets, and its Saturday market been called “One of the best second – hand markets in Yorkshire”.

Queensgate market is another market located in the town centre, and is extremely easy to find, even if you’re in Huddersfield for the first time. The market also hosts a shopping event every month, on the second Sunday in the town centre.

Huddersfield is truly a good place to shop, although some may miss a few brands that aren’t available. People usually go to Manchester and Leeds for additional shopping. It is convenient since cities are only about 30mins away with a train.
